Software Metering
Track software usage to highlight opportunities for cost saving through re-harvesting
New for late 2011 is the ability to import, monitor and report on software usage information in License Dashboard License Manager. Using either the License Dashboard Metering Agent (part of the Discovery solution) or your incumbent audit tool*, License Manager can now present metering information in the main reporting interface.
This makes it easier than ever for you quickly to identify applications that have been deployed onto PCs or Servers, but which are not regularly used. Re-harvesting these licenses can save significant sums both in terms of avoiding unnecessary purchases, but also in re-negotiated support and maintenance agreements.
Software metering metrics collected by License Manager* include:
- Date last used
- Last user
- Total run time (over 90 days)
- Aggregated usage data (product used weekly, monthly, three monthly or less)
* Availability of software usage information is dependent on using an audit solution capable of collecting and delivering this information to License Manager
